Las Rubias del Norte is a Brooklyn band formed by two classical choir drop-outs who were into boleros, Andean huaynos and Cuban Guajiras. On their third album, they cover also Bollywood, opera and Spanish pop. They play live.
I went to see Las Rubias del Norte last night, and bought their 3 albums. Thank you Soundcheck for showing me some new music and really making my Friday night. ;)
I love their voices, (stirring rhythms and soothing sounding vocals.) I cant help but admit that latin culture is pervasive in my own life, and I like to see it be pervasive in the others' lives as well!
Good band--like the vocals especially. I was wondering why the guy was sounding so pretentious in his interview until he said he was French. Let the girls speak, dude!
Please tell them to stop killing Bollywood. They sound terrible in the Hindi song!!! And it is one of my childhood faves. Argh, my life will never be the same again!
