Burlesque is enjoying a moment in the spotlight, with a kitschy new movie with Cher and Christina Aguilera, and a new biography of vaudeville performer Gypsy Rose Lee. But there’s long been a flourishing neo-burlesque scene here in New York City. We’ll talk about the music and dance of burlesque then and now. Guests include burlesque performer and singer Melody Sweets and Jo Weldon, author and headmistress of the New York School of Burlesque.

Jo's classes are great: she's actually interviewed and gotten to know a lot of the older ladies of classic burlesque and she tells you about them.

The best post-modern burlesque review I've ever seen was at Asbury Lanes, the punk rock bowling alley in Asbury Park. They had a Star Trek routine that'd knock your socks off and a fan dancer who tantalized us to the tune of a car alarm.

Night Train! I used to strip to that song in a gorilla suit... I kept my gorilla head on though right through the end..
