Our Spotify Review

Monday, July 18, 2011

For more than two years, a company called Spotify has been operating in Europe, with 10 million users taking advantage of a digital music service with an almost bottomless supply of songs. And, after a long wait, Spotify launched in the U.S., last Thursday. Our senior producer, Joel Meyer, weighs in on the service after taking it for a test drive over the weekend.

I like Spotify, it's really great except I haven't found the ability to listen to an entire album and searching song by song is tedious.

But I did a search for a Beatles song and all I got were Beatles cover bands. Yes, there were several. But the only Beatles tracks were on collections. So I guess some music publishers haven't given their okay to use their music. I've heard the same thing about certain albums by other bands being unavailable.
