Great show - very surprised that it was so specifically centered around straight couples though. Referring only to the bride and groom is a little antiquated and exclusive, no?

My vote goes for Lovely Day as the first dance; can't go wrong with that one.

Our first dance was to Louis Armstrong's "I Get Ideas" - which raised some eyebrows, but we loved it.

Mother/son dance was to Joan Baez "Forever Young."

My wife danced with her father to "Flashdance" - but she didn't tell him what their song would be until he got onto the dance floor. At the first chords he started laughing. They had a great dance - they used to swing dance to it together when she was little.

I got married this past September in Hampton Bays. The wedding party (my husband and flower girl) walked down the aisle to UFO's Doctor Doctor, which is played at every Iron Maiden concert just before the band comes on. The Maiden fans in attendance knew the show was about to begin, so to speak. I walked down the aisle to Baracumbara, a beautiful song by the Brazilian singer, Joyce. I think my husband's parents thought the selections were a bit odd, but we couldn't have been happier with our choices as they fit our personalities to a tee.

Our processional was U2's "All I Want is You" - it has a great length and instrumental part in the middle, and leads to a nice climax as the bride reaches the alter.

Our DJ was excellent, but I made the mistake of letting my dad choose our father/daughter song; and gave him a list of some ideas. He chose "I Loved Her First" by Heartland, not my style, but an adorable gesture- however it's such a sentimental song that he proceeded to cry on my shoulder throughout the dance. I would've gone with Amos Lee's "Sweet Pea"...and less crying.

Love the Orpheus song "Cant Find the Time to Tell You", Nat King Cole's "That's All", The Beach Boys "Wouldn't it be Nice" are good wedding songs

My musing: How could it be that Superfreak has become a wedding standard considering its utter kinkiness?

My husband and I hired alt-country musician Robbie Fulks to play our wedding. I wore a red dress, and he sang Lady in Red for our first dance. If we'd played the Chris Deburgh version, it would have been cheesy but Fulks made it amazing. And later his cover of Billie Jean got everyone dancing. His own songs were great too!

I'm a jewish musician who married a trinidadian and needed to find a way to please the trinis and jews, so naturally I recorded an 8 and a half minute soca hora medley to which you could either wine or dance in a circle.

For a cabaret wedding at the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel on the fifth anniversary of our first date, the first sing-along was "It's Been a Long, Long Time." Lyricist Dorothy Field's son, David Lahm, played piano including one of his mother's finest creations, "The Way You Look Tonight," "My Romance," by Rodgers and Hart, and "Love Is Here to Stay" by the Gershwins among many other standards. KT Sullivan sang "Love Is a Quiet Thing."

It was really meaningful and sounded great.

I have to plug the iPod option; we opted for that, had a music-geek friend choose the music very carefully, and queued up specific songs when the mood was right. Packed with motown classics that appealed to every age group, we got everyone dancing and had a fantastic time.

And we kept it upbeat for the set pieces: I danced with my dad to Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie" (my nickname as a kid). And the first dance with my husband was Peggy Lee's "I'll Dance at Your Wedding."

So many of the father-daughter choices just sound creepy.

We had a steel drum band - they were great. We also gave our guests CDs of the songs on our playlist. That was five years ago and we still get comments from our friends that it's a favorite!

I don't know from playlists, but at my niece's wedding to her new wife this past weekend, the first song they played was "Born This Way."

I convinced my wife to use "Flowers in the Window" by Travis for our first dance. Brilliant song, and I don't know anyone else who's used it.

Never let your future mother in law determine the playlist. I left it up to her on condition that she absolutely exclude three songs:

1) Sunrise Sunset
2) I Did It My Way
3)The Hustle (I'm giving away my age)

She instructed the band to play all of them. I am now divorced.
