Vetiver is allegedly a folk band, but on their MySpace page they describe their music as “Celtic/turntablism.” It’s bands like this that drive critics to coin terms like “freak folk.” Vetiver plays live in our studio.
nice, Vetiver; nice! Go-Betweens were a wonderful band for sure as well.
got our tix a few weeks ago for Book of Mormon, can't wait! And that rap at the end was indeed incredible!!!!
And RE: 1980, yes, P-furs! Radical. (time to do a show on Steve Lilleywhite?) and DK's sure, allright. But as much as I eventually loved deeper cuts by the Pretenders I really hated their initial pop hits, and would not have called even their most beloved tracks a significant departure from mainstream sounds, just a really great version of pure melodic pop.
