For many Detroit Lions fans, the worst possible outcome of their Thanksgiving home game isn't losing - it's having Nickelback play the halftime show. An online petition against the Canadian rock group has garnered more than 50,000 signatures - and plenty of ideas about who should play the Motor City halftime show. We speak with Dennis Guttman, the University of Michigan graduate student who started the petition. And: WDET FM radio host and native Detroiter Ann Delisi shares the alternative ideas that some of her listeners offered up.

This is a waste of time. Detroit you have such a good reputation, big laugh. ONE WORD Multi platinum
How about Thornetta Davis, whom I discovered during an unforgettable scene in season one of the Sopranos? One of the most soulful voices ever recorded!
Was not Was revue would be awesome!!!
or how about Kid Rock, Bob Seger and Eminem playing together?
Detroit hosts this game every year and our football team usually sucks. Our Great musical enviroment should do the 1/2 time show every year!!!
Henry Rollins apparently doesn't like Nickleback, it effects his dating life

Nickelback deserves some respect. Not all of us like eminem or any particular band that has been mentioned. This is music and music is liked by different people and not always the same groups. Give the guys a break and stop these petitions. Instead, those petitioners should focus on making the difference where it matters.
Looks like Nickleback sold the 2nd most albums of a foreign band only in the 2000's, NOT all time. According to wikipedia anyway:

Isn't it obvious Rebecca Black!
I just signed it too. Worst band EVER!
KISS!!!! KISS!! KISS!!
@Tim from Tappan:
What's a jukebox?
Please. This is the kind of guy that doesnt like anything you play on the juke box. Grow up... It could have been Up With People!
Please, please stop playing nickleback in the background for your show. I know you're talking about the band, but it's just painful.
I'm no fan of Nickelback but it seems that starting a petition to have a band removed from a job they’ve been hired to do just because you don’t like them is cruel.
Kenny Tudrick!
I humbly suggest The Muggs!
