As a kid growing up in Stockton, California, musician Chris Isaak cut his teeth on the early rock ‘n’ roll sounds of his parents’ old Sun Records 45 r.p.m. singles. Today, Isaak talks about his pilgrimage to the Memphis studio where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and others recorded some of those hits. And, he’ll play songs he recorded there for a new album called “Beyond the Sun.”

I just love everything Chris does. He is such a nice guy too. I've met him several times over the years.
LOVEEEE his singing!
Wow! Great interview. Chris Isaak sounds like a very interesting, likable guy. And an extraordinary musician. I wish it had lasted longer,
Such a treat to hear Chris Isaak on Soundcheck today! I purchased again last night Heart Shaped World. One of the best of voices in rock n roll and no auto tune needed!!
I got the double album and I think My Happiness is my favourite song. Michelle Branch's voice is like moonlight glittering on snow. Beautiful verson. But the whole CD is great.
I'm only a karaoke singer, and I sing Can't Help Falling in Love an octave down, but he's right about how all the couples get romantic or start slow dancing to it.
Wow, you have a cool guest on, I was lucky enough to meet Sam Philips at J&R music store downtown once when the double cd of the Sun recordings came out a few years back. Great show.
Nothing better than listening to Chris Isaac sing while playing poker in my basement.
Thanks Chris

Oh my word, WHAT a voice!
I love his records but like this now, in the studio, he sounds exquisite.
WOW.
Thank you , John, for this treat.
I heard that voice come out of the radio, and I knew right away it was Chris Isaak.
He is the best!!!
FINALLY, a decent guest. ... Looking forward to what Chris Isaak has to say and hear some of his new album.
John, please ask Chris if he's read Colin Escott's book on the Sun studios called "Good Rockin' Tonight: Sun Records and the Birth of Rock 'N' Roll".
If not, he'll love it:
