Don Byron and the New Gospel Quintet: In Studio

Friday, February 24, 2012

Throughout his career, composer and clarinetist Don Byron has blended jazz with styles ranging from klezmer to rap to German lieder. His latest project looks to gospel – specifically icons Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Thomas A. Dorsey (known as the “father of black gospel music”) - for inspiration. Don Byron and his New Gospel Quintet join us to play a bit of their debut album, “Love, Peace, and Soul,” live in our studio.
