Debo Band performing at WNYC's Greene Space as part of the Soundcheck CMJ showcase.
(Michael Katzif / WNYC)
Debo Band is a horn-heavy, groove-based band from Boston; but the music they play comes from another place and another time. Namely, "Swinging Addis," as the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa was known in the late 60s and early 70s. Debo Band recreates the so-called Golden Age of Ethiopian pop with a high-octane set that'll have you dancing in no time.
Set List:
-----
"Asha Gedawo"
"Yekefer Wegagene"
"Habesha"
