Wall performs in the Soundcheck studio.

Here at Soundcheck, we’re big fans of the music video series known as the Black Cab Sessions. The concept is simple: Take an artist, stuff them into the back seat of one of those black taxis in London, and film them performing as the cab drives around. Now, the brains behind the series have founded a record label, BCS Records, and their first signing is the young British singer, songwriter and producer Lyla Foy, who performs under the moniker Wall. (Watch Wall and her band recording a Black Cab Session.)
Before shows this week at Rockwood Music Hall (3/20) and Glasslands Gallery (3/21), Wall joined us in the slightly comfier confines of the Soundcheck studio.
Hear the band perform "Shoestring," "Place Too Low" and "All Alone." Plus: Lyla talks with host John Schaefer about her upcoming EP Shoestring, which is out April 2 in the U.S.
