Slavic Soul Party! was born back in 2000 when a bunch of New York jazz musicians got together and decided to get down Balkan style. On “Taketron,” the title track from their new album, SSL! mash up jazz-inspired horns, Balkan flavor, drum line percussion and funk attitude. They’re what Wilson Pickett would sound like if he were from the land of the Black Mountains instead of the Land of 1,000 Dances.
