On their MySpace page, the Leftovers describe their music as "a very modern version of a long time ago." If nothing else, the band certainly knows its influences: the new-wave guitar tone and throaty, over-enunciated vocals of "Telephone Operator" are straight from the playbooks of Ric Ocasek and Elvis Costello. The resulting sound may not be terribly original, but for those in search of a beat to dance to, it does the job.
