In the young man's game of indie rock, the Wrens are an unlikely success story. Label disputes in the mid-90s forced a lengthy hiatus, from which many bands would never have recovered. But in 2003, the Wrens returned to relevance with The Meadowlands, a powerhouse album that became one of the decade's most acclaimed. "Everyone Choose Sides" was quickly pegged as a standout track, its crusty, overdriven guitar an apt symbol for the band's own struggles to be heard.
