This tight, six-piece reggae band is without a label, but well-connected. Since lead singer Donovan Ernest formed the group while studying at Purchase College, Under the Rasta Influence (U.R.I.) has opened for hip-hop acts such as Dead Prez and The Beatnuts, and the award-winning reggae artist Everton Blender. U.R.I. isn't afraid of pushing the boundaries of their genre; the band employs the usual reggae instrumentation, but one member, Taylor Cannizzaro, also plays violin. She provides a surprising mournful solo on this track, an intriguing layer on top of the infectious groove of the song.
