Inga Swearingen
"April Afternoon"
Playing at: Town Hall
(123 W. 43rd St., Theater District)
Get: Tickets | Directions

Since first performing on A Prairie Home Companion in 2003, singer Inga Swearingen has returned to the show several times, and will appear in the radio program's live show tonight at Town Hall. Much like Joni Mitchell, Swearingen blends jazz, folk and the singer/songwriter tradition to create a style that is warm and narrative. "April Afternoon" captures the ease with which Swearingen switches between her leisurely singing style and scatting while mastering a tricky melody.
