Netherfriends is primarily just one Netherfriend: multi-instrumentalist Shawn Rosenblatt. The recent college grad began as a solo artist, recording all of the instruments in his songs himself, but later asked other musicians to play with him live (his songs would've been impossible to perform otherwise). "Mom Cop" is a mixture of psychedelic pop à la Zombies and sprawling, Sufjan Stevens-like dreaminess. The song hooks you with an upbeat garage rock opening only to expand into something more layered.
