Known to don nurse's uniforms and elaborate tree costumes, lead singer Daniel Smith and his experimental indie rock family band have been making music together since the mid 1990s. But it wasn't until they released their 2006 album Ships that indie scene followers began to take notice of the New Jersey group. "Did I Step On Your Trumpet" is an ambitious, delightfully awkward track from this album, combining Smith's squeaky voice with girlish backing vocals and rag tag instrumentation.
