The Felice Brothers
"Penn Station"
Playing at: Southpaw
(125 5th Ave., Park Slope)
Get: Tickets (SOLD OUT) | Directions

Formed in the Catskills, the Felice Brothers (made up of Ian, Simone and James Felice and friend Christmas Clapton) went from recording their first album in a chicken coop to going on tour with Bright Eyes in a year's time. With a rootsy sound that's part rock, part folk, and part country, the music of the Felice Brothers evokes the kind of impromptu front porch jams associated with mountain people. "Penn Station" is a rollicking ballad complete with harmonica, handclaps and raspy lead vocals courtesy of Ian Felice.
