The synth-funk that Los Angeles artist, producer and DJ Dâm-Funk cranks out sounds like the soundtrack for a long-lost blaxploitation space adventure. Inspired by late '70s and early '80s funk, DJ Dâm-Funk uses vintage equipment from that era to produce ultra-chilled out and delightfully sleazy music. On "The Sky Is Ours," Dâm-Funk uses a relatively simple drum machine beat, Prince-like vocals and sultry synth to produce a track that is glittery and seductive.
