Peruvian-born trumpet and flugelhorn player Gabriel Alegría is currently on tour with his Afro-Peruvian sextet, and this weekend they'll continue to settle into their residency at the Tutuma Social Club, where they'll play Friday through Sunday. Alegría takes on the Gershwin classic "Summertime," treating the seminal piece with his own cool Latin flavor on his trumpet. It's no easy task making such a well-known tune your own, but Alegría succeeds.
