São Paulo's Garotas Suecas takes the energy of Os Mutantes and Sly and Family Stone and blends the respective mojos into their own party cocktail. The Brazilian sextet has yet to make it in the States, but the recently released EP Codinome Dinamite — their U.S. debut — might change that. This title track, with its high and mighty horns, '60s guitar lines and vintage R&B feel, is a celebratory, highly danceable throwback.
