The Bad Plus are known for their adept and exhilarating jazz reworkings of pop and rock tunes, but the trio is just as deft at crafting original pieces. This work, penned by drummer Dave King, abounds in relentless energy, as King and pianist Ethan Iverson duke it out over an indefatigable, ever-evolving melody. Tonight, the trio begin a six-night residency at Blue Note.
