Indian-born, New York-based singer Falguni Shah, who performs as Falu, spent her early years in Mumbai diligently training in the Indian classical music tradition known as Jaipur. But after she moved to the U.S. in the early 2000s, Shah began blending elements of Indian classical music with modern Western sounds, developing a style her producer calls "indie Hindi." On "O Lal Meri," Shah shows off her beautiful, well-seasoned voice on this more traditional tune that dramatically waxes and wanes. Shah's performance at the Brooklyn Museum is part of Carnegie Hall’s Neighborhood Concert Series.
