Despite the fact that Los Campesinos! lead singer and songwriter Gareth Campesinos! claims to dislike short stories, this track from Romance Is Boring, the latest offering from the U.K. indie rock collective, sounds a lot like one. Dense and wordy, "Future" tells the story of a girl contemplating suicide by drowning herself. The band plays up the angsty melodrama of the song by slowly building up the tune to an emotional climax of a melange of voices, percussion and guitar.
