Drummer Mark Guiliana is only 29, but he's already made significant strides as a sideman and leader, playing with the likes of Avishai Cohen and Bobby McFerrin while also heading up the trio HEERNT. On his own he blends jazz with an electronica-inspired approach to percussion that's both atmospheric and dynamic. This track from his self-titled EP warms up with airy guitar before Guiliana blows the tune wide open with powerful, stuttering rhythm.
