After years of mingling with impressive ensembles such as the Mingus Big Band and the Chico O'Farrill Latin Big Band, rising saxophonist Brandon Wright released Boiling Point, his debut as a bandleader, in June. Wright and his energetic sidemen quickly get down to business on this Coltrane-esqe opener. Feisty and sophisticated, "Free Man" is an impassioned post-bop workout.
