Sometimes when bands channel a sound from a bygone era, they sound like outdated simulacrum. But L.A.'s Autolux avoids that trap. Instead, they reinvigorate the '80s and '90s art of shoegaze rock with the kind of revivalist—yet original—mastery that makes you wonder why more bands aren't making this kind of music anymore.
