Brothers Ryan and Hays Holladay like to keep it in the family. Before forming Bluebrain, the Holladays fronted the Brooklyn indie pop quartet the Epochs, playing with Spank Rock and the Walkmen. Since then, they've slimmed down to a duo and moved to D.C., but even under a new moniker, the brothers are still exploring dreamy, half-acoustic, half-electronic pop. "Royal Blue," from Bluebrain's debut LP Soft Power, is a lush and lilting track, full of atmospheric strings and synths and a flirty rhythm section. Beginning tonight, the band will play every Monday at Pianos for the month of February.
