Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp first gained notoriety as co-founders of the record label and arts collective Apestaartje. But in 2005, they joined forces once again to form Mountains, an electronic act that trades in slow-burning soundscapes. “Choral” layers colorful textures one atop the other, building to a chaotic apex at the song’s midpoint. Then, just as deliberately, those layers are subtracted and order is restored.
