Ex-Concretes lead singer Victoria Bergsman traveled to Pakistan to record her second album as the solo project Taken By Trees, and not long after her arrival in the country, Bergsman was nearly taken by locals because she was an unmarried woman. Following that incident, Bergsman's recording engineer posed as her husband so that the two would be allowed to safely seek out the musicians they had come to work with. The result of these collaborations is an alt-singer-songwriter album influenced by Pakistani music and abundant in warmth. The beachy "Anna," which features Animal Collective's Panda Bear singing backup vocals, is lissome, sparse, and mellow, despite being recorded in a country in turmoil.
