Jim White was a surfer, a model, even a New York City cab driver before he made the leap to professional musician, a lengthy trek that ended when David Byrne signed White to his Luaka Bop record label. He's now well known for his poetic lyricism and ability to make sense of life's travails, making him a perfect fit for the Happy Ending series. "Jailbird," from 2007’s Transnormal Skiperoo is a slow-burning ode to the open road by a man who wants nothing else but to leave everything behind.
