Drummer Ari Hoenig's style defies simple description, and this live version of the Charlie Parker/Dizzy Gillespie jazz standard recorded last November captures Hoenig's intensity. Cerebral, complex, and innovative, Hoenig barrels through this composition (which also appears on his album Inversations) in a manner that ranges from wild and avant-garde to driven and straight-ahead.
