Someone has to carry on the prog rock torch, and the members of the Brooklyn trio La Otracina have taken it upon themselves to keep the legacy going. Formed in 2003, the band employs the most solid cornerstones of rock instrumentation -- bass, drums and electric guitar -- to play ambitious, head-banging rock. On "Can't Take No City Life," the triad harkens hard, '70s style stadium rock before shredding through a gritty instrumental that hints at jazz and classical influences.
