Known for her eclectic musical style and biting lyrics, singer-songwriter Nellie McKay doesn't seem like the type to record a tribute album to 20th century pop sweetheart Doris Day. But McKay is actually a long-time fan of the singer, and this track from her 2009 salute to Day shows all the markings of a sincere admirer. "Wonderful Guy" sees McKay re-interpreting this show tune from the musical "South Pacific" with sophisticated intimacy and sweet, jazzy style.
