Senegalese superstar Baaba Maal is no stranger to the Central Park SummerStage crowd, and tonight the West African singer and guitarist brings his hybridized worldbeat sound back to Rumsey Playfield. Maal has been known to draw on both traditional African music and Western influences, and on his latest disc, 2009's Television, Maal continues the trend. On this gentle, flamenco-tinged track, Maal sings in a reedy, earnest lilt while Spanish guitar undulates beneath his bilingual vocals.
