Drawing on rhythmic inspiration from her native South America, New York-based Argentinian chanteuse Sofia Rei Koutsovitis incorporates Latin beats into a jazz-imbued sound that's both mellow and animated. On her second disc Sube Azul, Koutsovitis handles the bulk of the songwriting duties while her solid ensemble skillfully backs her with an acute sense of the singer's diverse range of moods.
