It seems that there's nothing trumpeter Roy Hargrove can't do. Since he first came on the music scene in the late '80s, he's collaborated with the rapper Common and neo-soul goddess Erykah Badu. In the jazz world he's played everything from Latin jazz to straight-ahead. On this track from his release Emergence, Hargrove shows off his big band sound, fronting an original tune written by band member Jason Marshall that swings with big bad bluesy attitude.
