Since their last album, Brooklyn's Akron/Family lost band member Ryan Vanderhoof and shrunk from a quartet to a trio, but that didn't keep the remaining members from charging ahead. Critics have called last year's Vanderhoof-less Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free, Akron/Family's most adventurous album to date, and that's saying something, considering these experimental rockers shy away from little. "River," the second track from Set 'Em Wild, is a freak-folk hoedown full of layered beats and and an intimate, campfire circle sense of revelry.
