Danish outfit Efterklang have long delighted in embellishing their indie pop/rock sound with electronics and grand orchestral arrangements, so much so that they did a live recording of their last full-length album with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. The band's newest album, Magic Chairs, scales things back a bit with stripped-down compositions (only 17 guest musicians this time instead of an orchestra). But a few tracks, such as this single, still fall in step with Efterklang's usual modus operandi. "Modern Drift" flows with an elegant warmth akin to chamber pop, complete with fluid piano, gentle strings and barely-there electronics.
