Brooklyn may be the preeminent music mecca nowadays, but bands such as Brasstronaut are proving that the scene in Vancouver is nothing to sneeze at. This rising six-piece outfit from the Great White North play expansive pop rock with a jazz soul. On "Slow Knots," from their forthcoming sophomore release Mount Chimaera (out March 24), the sextet revel in a sweeping track full of tight movements that flirt with intellectual pop and jazz fusion.
