The original traditional Irish folk group De Dannan, which formed in 1975, is considered to be music royalty in Ireland. Before the band officially broke up in 2003, group co-founders Frankie Gavin and Alec Finn led De Dannan through the recording of over a dozen ambitious albums that included traditional tunes, original compositions, Freddie Mercury-esque tributes and interpretations of Handel. Gavin formed a new version of De Dannan last year, and tonight the updated lineup take the stage at Joe's Pub just ahead of St. Patrick's Day.
