Brooklyn-based composer and performer Jeremiah Cymerman is known for his clarinet avant-gardism, but on this track from his upcoming Porter Records release, Under A Blue Grey Sky (out April 20), Cymerman exchanges his woodwind for electronics. "Act 1" is the opener for the electro-acoustic suite for electronics and strings, and the moody piece lives up to the album title. Atmospheric wind chimes expand into an eerie electronic drone before foreboding strings establish film-score-like drama. Tonight, Cymerman will debut a new electroacoustic work alongside pieces from his new album in a Porter Records Showcase that also includes performances by Nate Wooley and Katherine Young.
