The background of Clogs' new album, The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton, suits the band's indie chamber rock identity. Padma Newsome, who leads the quartet along with Bryce Dessner of the National, composed the song cycle that makes up the new LP during a new music residency at Italy's idyllic garden Giardini La Mortella in 2005. When it was time to record the album, Newsome brought in other likeminded classical-music leaning indie rockers such as Sufjan Stevens and Shara Worden to appear on the record. On this track from Lady Walton, the intimacy of both folk and chamber music intertwine on an almost fairy-tale-like tune. Tonight, Worden appears with Clogs at the Bell House.
