Dallas Vietty
"Spain"
Playing Monday at Bryant Park (1065 Avenue of the Americas)
Info: Tickets (FREE) | Directions
Head over to Bryant Park on Monday to hear some accordion music on your lunch break. A French waltz-off might even break out at the hands of Dallas Vietty and his swing band.
The Bucks County, Pa. resident’s skillset is based in musette, a style of French music and dance that emerged in the late 1800s. Vietty specifically has been drawn to swing musette stylings from the 1920s to the 1950s. Yet his swath of various accordion sounds touches on a range of styles — from gypsy jazz to polka to jazz fusion.
This Chick Corea composition "Spain" was recorded for the album Unencumbered by national guitar flatpicking champion Mark Cosgrove. Monday’s concert will be held at the Fountain Terrace in the park from 12:30 P.M. til 2:30 P.M. Bon Appetit!
