“Daisies Grow”

The music of Bryant K -- old-school downtown scenester, offbeat artiste, bedroom crooner -- can only be described as supremely, shockingly weird. His first Stones Throw Records single, “Daisies Grow,” features a tinny clap track, a distorted bass drone, and free-association vocals sung in an out-of-tune, raw warble. He calls the concept “lo-fi soul,” and while it's not exactly easily accessible, there’s something touchingly honest and deeply hypnotic about the song that only increases with repeated listening.
On Monday, Bryant K plays Nublu's new temporary space a few avenues over from the regular Avenue C location.
