(The) Tony Castles
"Black Girls in Dresses"
Playing FRIDAY at: Pianos (158 Ludlow St., L.E.S.)
Info: Tickets ($8) | Directions
Former college schoolmates Paul Sicilian, Gabriel Wurzel and Willie Miesmer make up the Brooklyn dream pop band (The) Tony Castles. Since joining the borough's music scene in 2008, the band's members have played with Effi Briest, Darlings, and Dinowalrus. As a group, they’ve played shows with Suckers and Das Racist. Looping pedals and samplers meet a manipulated keyboard on the band’s debut five-song EP No Service, which was released last fall. Sicilian’s vocals are drowned in a synth bath during the opening of this single “Black Girls in Dresses,” which you can download above.
