The Milwaukee, Wis. band Kings Go Forth released its debut album, The Outsiders Are Back, on David Byrne’s world music record label Luaka Bop last year. The ten-man group, led by founder and bassist Andy Noble and howling vocalist Black Wolf, is firmly rooted in '70’s soul—even down to the era’s production and recording techniques. Kings Go Forth's debut album follows several 7" singles and received critical acclaim when it was finally pressed—even landing itself at the top of many critic's "Best of 2010" lists. Down at Austin’s SXSW Music Festival last spring, Danger Mouse, members of The Black Keys and James Mercer (of The Shins) dropped by the band's stage to see what all the hype was about.
