Seapony
"Dreaming"
Playing Friday at Pianos (158 Ludlow St., L.E.S.)
Info: Tickets ($10) | Directions

Formed in Seattle just over a year ago, Seapony rose up the indie-pop ranks after posting a handful of demos, including “Dreaming,” online. The group was subsequently invited to play shows with indie rockers like The Love Language and Pains of Being Pure At Heart. The drumless trio is made up of songwriter Danny Rowland, singer Jen Weidl and bass player Ian Brewer.

“Drums are too loud,” frontman Rowland claims. “Plus I don't like the sound of the crash. It can get in the way."

The solution? Drum machines. For last month's debut album, Go With Me, Seapony used a vintage drum apparatus to keep time under Weidl’s breathy vocals.
