Before settling on the rap game, Homeboy Sandman did tours of duty as a New York City schoolteacher, a Hofstra law student and a bartender. The late-blooming emcee’s hip-hop love affair began while growing up on “one of the biggest bootlegging blocks” on Queens Boulevard.
