Sola Rosa was formed more than a decade ago by New Zealander Andrew Spraggon. The group's four musicians -- Spraggon (who played guitar and sung for the band Cicada in the '90s), Spikey Tee, Matt Short and Ben White -- create their songs by mixing live vocals, bass, drums and guitar with electronic samples. The band's name was inspired by a trip Spraggon took to Mexico.
Sola Rosa plays SOBs on Tuesday night. Download "Turn Around," which blends elements of hip-hop, dub, jazz, soul, funk and electronica, and features emerging Wellington songstress Iva Lamkum. Or watch the video for the song below.
